Doomsday Gardens Community
Dedicated to Educating New Gardeners
My name is Dr. William Reichert and for the last 15 years I have been studying plant biology, population genetics and natural product chemistry for human health. For over a decade, I have contemplated the idea of establishing a company aimed at educating and offering solutions to individuals on cultivating their own food in the event of a civilization collapse. Given the prevailing global instability that is impacting essential commodities crucial for survival, people now face the necessity of preparing for potential food shortages by growing their own crops to safeguard the continuity of their bloodline. While our perceptions of a doomsday scenario may differ, the reality remains that numerous catastrophic events can disrupt societal infrastructure, and even a single accurate prediction could leave one entirely self-reliant.

There is a critical need to retrain the general population on the required horticultural aspects to cultivate enough food to support communities and societies. I was blessed while earning my PhD that I was able to spend months in Zambia turning small under-established farms into much larger commercial enterprises. Additionally, I worked with Department of Defenses, Department of War Fighter Protection, Armed Forces Pest Management board to commercialize novel plant chemistries for insect repellent purposes. The work completed that was required to succeed in these endeavors granted me a set of technical skills to enable me to understand plants, agricultural practices and the necessary requirements needed to support long term human health.

I believe that it is now necessary to be outspoken on the inconvenient truths of the modern world in relation to cultivating food for you and your families. Successful agricultural enterprises require effort throughout the entirety of the growing season in which there is no tomorrow, problems must be addressed immediately as they can have systemic consequences amplifying the amount of work needed. When individual knowledge bases have been formed, communities can be established leveraging individual expertise to thrive when doomsday scenarios arise.
